The first thing I noticed when I Skyped with Melissa was her smile. She is very friendly and just emits warmth. I’m sure her personality adds to her success as a photographer. I was not surprised when she told me that most of her business is repeat clients. Melissa’s old website didn’t let any of her incredible personality show through.
Melissa is a family photographer based in Nashville, Tennessee, and traveling on a regular basis to serve clients in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she is originally from. She is a mom of three, and a full-time photographer. Her needs for a website was to have something that just worked, and showcased a bit of who she is. Freshly modern, simply fun is her company tagline, so we wanted to represent that in her visual identity.
Her website was already using WordPress, with an older theme that she said had a lot of kinks to fight. She decided to purchase Pro Photo 5 and have me create a custom designed website within the theme. You can read my review of ProPhoto Blogs on my photography blog.

I knew Melissa’s design had to be very clean, airy, and modern. We used the blue in her original logo, added grays, and a pop of green into the color palette, inspired by her pins above.
